Join Ojibwe author and activist Anton Treuer for an indigenous response to Jessica Care Moore's epic poem "I Want My Body Back." The numerous historical and contemporary traumas visited upon native bodies, minds, and souls have created an obvious need for healing, but also an obvious need for action. What does healing look like? And what actions will do the greatest good to protect current and future generations from the cycles of violence, neglect, and cultural starvation? Treuer will invite you to an exploration of our most fundamental human needs in a trying time, with an eye on healing, hope, and action.
This presentation is the opening keynote address for the Minnesota Indian Women's Sexual Assault Coalition annual statewide conference.
