Executive Assistant to Anton Treuer (Remote with Occasional U.S. Travel)
Location:
Remote (U.S.-based) with periodic travel to live events, especially in Minnesota.
About Anton Treuer
Anton Treuer is a nationally renowned author, historian, public speaker, and Professor of Ojibwe at Bemidji State University. He is the author of more than 20 books, including “Everything You Wanted to Know About Indians But Were Afraid to Ask,” “Where Wolves Don’t Die,” and “The Language Warrior’s Manifesto.” With deep commitments to education, Native American cultural preservation, and equity work, Treuer’s speaking and writing are in high demand at universities, schools, tribal nations, and conferences across the United States and Canada. His mission-driven work often involves multimedia outreach, community events, and educational projects.
Position Summary
Seeking a detail-oriented, ethical, and highly organized U.S. citizen with native-level English fluency to serve as Executive Assistant to Anton Treuer. This role is primarily remote but requires availability to travel to assist at select live events—including running a mobile bookstore and supporting video content capture.
Key Responsibilities
Manage email and complex calendars (Google Suite)
Coordinate travel and event logistics (air, hotel, ground)
Assist with invoices, contracts, and financial tracking (familiarity with Square Register and appointments is a plus)
Help manage Squarespace website, YouTube channel, and other digital platforms
Support mobile bookstore operations and assist with video and social media content at live events
Draft professional correspondence, event outreach, and handle sensitive/confidential information with discretion
Learn and master new software tools as needed
Contribute to content production, including social media posts and video projects
Provide occasional on-site assistance in Minnesota or elsewhere in the U.S.
Required Qualifications
U.S. citizen residing in the United States
Exceptional English language communication skills, both written and verbal
Technologically proficient and eager to learn new digital tools; prior experience with Google calendar, Squarespace, Square Register, and YouTube/social media platforms highly preferred
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to exercise good judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work independently with minimal direct supervision
Flexible schedule, willingness to travel, and excitement for supporting educational and cultural programming
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience supporting authors, academics, or public figures
Event management experience
Video capture and editing experience
Minnesota residence
Understanding of Native American communities, especially Ojibwe
Start Date & Compensation
Position is full time and open for immediate hire. Compensation commensurate with experience, with opportunities for growth.
