The Cultural Toolbox: Traditional Ojibwe Living in the Modern World (In-person)

You are a complete, fully realized human being. You are a soul who has a body. You are the one your ancestors were praying for and waiting for through the generations. You have been given a unique set of gifts, and you yourself are a gift to the world. —Anton Treuer, The Cultural Toolbox: Traditional Ojibwe Living in the Modern World

Community Connection and Relational Health: Helping Kids Thrive in the Modern World (In-person)

Today’s young people are growing up in a world shaped by rapid social change, digital life, and increasing cultural complexity. How can families, schools, and communities work together to help children grow into healthy, resilient, and connected adults?

In this engaging and accessible evening program, author and educator Dr. Anton Treuer explores how strong relationships, cultural understanding, and shared community values help young people thrive. Drawing from history, research, and personal stories, Treuer will discuss the importance of belonging, communication, and empathy in supporting youth development.

The conversation will explore how communities can navigate differences, strengthen connections across generations and perspectives, and create environments where children feel valued and supported. With warmth, humor, and practical insight, Treuer invites community members to reflect on the role we all play in helping the next generation grow with confidence, respect, and purpose.

This event is open to families, educators, and community members of the School District of New Richmond who care about supporting the well-being and success of young people in today’s world. For more information contact Kayla Pedersen at: kpedersen@newrichmond.k12.wi.us
