Tackling Invisibility, Marginalization, Healing, and Learning with Your Native Students

  • Roosevelt High School 4029 South 28th Avenue Minneapolis, MN, 55406 United States (map)

Native American cultures contain a unique toolbox to help educators and equity workers decenter and combat oppression, cultural disassociation, other drivers for the “achievement gap.” Come learn more from and about the first people of the land. In addition to a thought-provoking challenge to our prevailing assumptions about education and equity work, this session is also designed to provide a meaningful opportunity for participants to expand their cultural awareness and competence in dealing with a unique population of often-marginalized students with greater efficacy. This session will draw from specific examples in the Native American experience, but demonstrate tools, strategies, and perspectives useful in helping all students be successful.

This is a private professional development session for Minneapolis Public Schools staff.
