Building Stronger Partnerships with Native Communities
In this talk, Anton Treuer offers a clear, accessible introduction to working more effectively with Native communities by grounding the conversation in history, lived experience, and practical insight. Drawing on his scholarship and community-based work, he explores common disparities and misconceptions, helps break down persistent stereotypes, and highlights culturally relevant needs that are often overlooked in policy and service delivery. Most importantly, the session focuses on best practices for building respectful, productive partnerships—centering listening, relationship-building, and collaboration—so organizations can strengthen their capacity to support Native communities in meaningful and sustainable ways.
