Dr. Anton Treuer will deliver a keynote address titled “Healthy Babies, Moms & Communities: An Indigenous Perspective on Home Visiting, Health Professions, and the Communities We Serve” during the Child Care Aware® of America Symposium 2026, on May 4, 10:30–11:30 a.m. (ET) at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia.

In this thought-provoking keynote, Dr. Treuer will explore how Indigenous knowledge systems, community-centered care, and culturally grounded health practices can strengthen outcomes for mothers, babies, and families. Drawing on Indigenous perspectives and community experience, he will highlight how home visiting programs, health professions, and early childhood systems can work collaboratively to support healthy families and resilient communities.

Participants will gain insights into how culturally responsive care, community relationships, and respect for Indigenous knowledge can inform effective approaches to maternal and child health. Dr. Treuer will also discuss the importance of building partnerships between health professionals, caregivers, and communities to ensure that programs serve families with dignity, cultural humility, and lasting impact.

The Child Care Aware® of America Symposium (May 3–6, 2026) brings together early childhood professionals, policymakers, advocates, and community leaders from across the country to address key challenges and opportunities shaping the future of child care and family support systems.
